COVID-19 Delta variant patient in Nueva Vizcaya recovers – official

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — A man in Nueva Vizcaya province infected with the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 has already recovered, an official said Thursday.

Dr. Edwin Galapon, Nueva Vizcaya health officer, said the patient has “clinically recovered” following his treatment in Solano town last month.

The information about the patient was not immediately disclosed to the public to avoid causing panic, Galapon said.

In Cauayan City, Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy has retracted his previous statement that a Delta variant patient had recovered in the city.

It turned out that the patient was afflicted with the Alpha variant, said Dy, who apologized for the mix-up.
