4 weather disturbances inducing monsoon rains over Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Monsoon rains are expected over most parts of Luzon on Thursday, the state weather bureau said as it monitors four weather disturbances likely to affect weather conditions.

The southwest monsoon or hanging habagat continues to be the prevailing weather system, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience monsoon rains.

Metro Manila, the rest of Ilocos Region, the of Cordillera Administrative Region, the of Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will have fair weather with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

Weather forecasters are tracking four cyclones around the Philippine territory, which are likely to enhance the southwest monsoon.

Tropical depression Gorio, which moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility, was last spotted 760 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

Tropical Storm Lupit was spotted 550 kilometers west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

A tropical storm was also seen 2,785 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon, and a tropical depression was seen 2,095 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon.
