MANILA, Philippines — The number of Filipinos given the complete two doses of COVID-19 vaccines is nearing 10 million after the government recorded its highest number of daily jabs, National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon said Wednesday.
Dizon said that on Tuesday, the government logged a total of 680,883 inoculations in a single day, the highest number of daily jabs so far after surpassing the national target of 500,000 vaccinations a day.
Of the total jabs, 164,000 were given in Metro Manila, Dizon added.
This makes the total of doses administered to almost 22 million, with 12 million doses given as first doses while almost 10 million or 9.8 million are second doses.
“By tomorrow, I think we will be having a milestone of 10 million Filipinos fully vaccinated,” Dizon said in a briefing with Go Negosyo.
“This is really a tremendous accomplishment from all of us from both the national government, local government, and private sector,” he added.
The government is aiming to get 15 million Filipinos fully vaccinated in the month of August, Dizon said.
The Department of Health (DOH) said the government is expecting to receive around 22.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from different sources this month.
