LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte logged 397 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, Aug. 3, setting another daily record-high caseload for the second time this August, according to data from the provincial government.
Ninety-six patients recovered from the disease, while five died due to
to COVID-19 complications, data showed.
These brought the total number of active cases in Ilocos Norte to 3,657, with 19 of the 23 towns and cities in the province tagged as “red zones” for having at least 21 active cases.
Laoag City, which recorded 121 new cases in a single day on Tuesday, has 1,075, the highest in the province.
This is followed by Batac City (451), and the towns of Sarrat (276), Bacarra (271), Bangui (213), Pasuquin (162), Dingras (159), San Nicolas (142), Pagudpud (141), Paoay (125), Badoc (124), and Dumalneg (120).
Ilocos Norte is under modified enhanced community quarantine, the second strictest containment classification in the country, until Aug. 15.
The province’s average daily attack rate is the highest in the Ilocos region at 44.89 cases per 100,000 population as of Aug. 3, according to the Department of Health COVID-19 tracker.
The province has recorded 8,947 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year, including 5,160 recoveries and 130 deaths.
