DOTr: Present transport capacity retained
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday said the current public transport supply and capacity in Metro Manila will be retained during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Aug. 6 to 20.
Public utility vehicles, such as buses and jeepneys, will be allowed to operate at 50-percent capacity on a “one-seat-apart” setup.
The DOTr said that standing passengers would not be allowed. Motorcycle taxi services, tricycles carrying only one passenger and transport network vehicle service operations will also be allowed.
All train systems — the Philippine National Railways, LRT 1, LRT 2 and the MRT 3 — will be operational during this period.
Domestic flights and sea travel in NCR will also be allowed, “subject to community quarantine restrictions of the destinations.”
But the DOTr stressed that only authorized persons outside of residence will be allowed to use public transport services.
