Swarm of earthquakes rattles Zambales in 2 hours

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales, Philippines — At least five earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.7 to 4.5 were recorded in this province within two hours on Tuesday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The latest was a magnitude 2.7 tremor recorded at 10:16 p.m., the epicenter of which was 18 kilometers west of San Felipe town.

The strongest was a magnitude 4.5 recorded at 8: 58 p.m. and located 29 km northwest of San Felipe.

Local authorities have asked residents to prepare for a possible stronger magnitude.

Earlier, a magnitude 4.2  quake was also detected  38 km southwest of San Felipe at 3:26 p.m. It had a depth of 18 km.
