SUBIC BAY FREEPORT— Seven new COVID-19 infections were recorded in this freeport on Monday (Aug. 2), an official said.

In an advisory, Wilma Esima, chair and administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), said two freeport residents and five SBMA employees were infected.

Most of the cases have known exposure to virus-infected patients.

So far, the freeport has registered 358 COVID-19 cases among its residents, transients, and SBMA employees.

Its active infections rose to 27 on Monday while its recoveries climbed to 321 with six new recoveries on the same day.

Eisma said the freeport would no longer allow guests staying here to extend their hotel accommodations beyond their scheduled booking.

This is one of the stricter restrictions being imposed by the agency as a precaution against the threat of the more contagious Delta variant of COVID-19.
