OLONGAPO CITY––At least 1,800 more residents in this city have been fully inoculated against COVID-19 during the mass vaccination Monday for the second dose of Sinovac.
The vaccine recipients are among those who got their first dose between June 25-July 1, said the Olongapo City Information Center.
To date, the city has inoculated at least 23,000 priority residents, mostly health workers, senior citizens, and those with illnesses.
But only about 15,000 of these are fully vaccinated, including those who received the single-shot Janssen vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson. These reflect about eight percent of the target eligible population.
The city received some 7,800 out of the 3.2 million doses of Janssen donated by the U.S. government.
Aside from the J&J and Sinovac vaccines, the city has also been administering AstraZeneca vaccines made in the U.K.
Olongapo aims to vaccinate 70 percent of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
