MANILA, Philippines — Navotas City will place Barangay Tanza 1 and 2 on a lockdown starting August 3 to 16 after COVID-19 cases from both areas notably increased, Mayor Toby Tiangco said Monday.
“Simula po mamaya, 3 August, 12 ng hatinggabi, isasailalim po natin sa lockdown ang Brgy. Tanza 1 at 2 hanggang 16 August, 5 a.m, dahil sa mabilis na pagtaas ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 rito,” said Tiangco in a Facebook post.
(Starting August 3, 12 midnight, Barangay Tanza 1 and 2 will be placed under lockdown until August 16, 5 a.m., amid the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in these areas.)
According to the local chief executive, the city government conducted community testing in the two barangays, and the results of which revealed that 25 percent or 44 of the 174 tests turned positive.
As of August 1, Navotas City recorded a total of 11,589 COVID-19 cases that include 340 are active cases 382 deaths.
Barangay Tanza 1 currently has 53 active cases while Barangay Tanza 2 has 37.
Metro Manila will go back to enhanced community quarantine status from August 6-20 amid the COVID-19 Delta variant scare.
This week, Metro Manila and some nearby provinces were under general community quarantine status but “subject to heightened & additional restrictions.”
