MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government on Monday said the first online birth registration portal in the country will be opened in the city this year.
In a statement, Mayor Joy Belmonte said the project offers a more convenient and efficient birth registration process. The requirements can be sent through the website and verified by the City Civil Registry Department (CCRD).
“Through this initiative, pwede nang mai-submit ang requirements at mai-check online para hindi na magpabalik-balik pa sa city hall,” Belmonte said.
(Through this initiative, requirements could be submitted and checked online so parents will not come back to City Hall back and forth.)
“Hopefully, we can have the portal up and running before the year ends,” Mayor Belmonte explained.
For his part, City Civil Registrar Salvador Cariño Jr said that the birth certificate applicants would not have to return to city hall once the program comes to fruition.
“After sending the documents needed, our staff will review and verify these and will advise the applicant if their certificate is ready for pick-up,” Cariño added.
The portal, which would also have real-time tracking and email notification system for the applicants, will be accepting applications from QC residents 24/7, according to Cariňo.
Cariño also said they are currently in talks with the City Administrator’s Office and Information Technology Development Department to include the initiative in the city’s QC E-Services portal to streamline all city government programs.
Aside from the birth certificates, civil registry department programs such as marriage registration, and death registration will soon be available online as well, according to the city government.
