Pagasa: Tropical depression spotted outside PAR; fair weather in NCR, Vis-Min

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Monday said it is monitoring a tropical depression, which, however, is not expected to enter  the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Pagasa Senior Weather Specialist Meno Mendoza said the tropical depression was located 2,195 kilometers east -northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, and is moving northwest at 25 kph.

“Meron tayong binabantayang isang tropical depression sa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility. Ang nasabing tropical depression ay hindi inaasahang papasok ng ating PAR,” he said in an early morning weather bulletin.

(We are monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine area of responsibility. It is not expected to enter PAR.)

Meanwhile, the low pressure area earlier spotted by Pagasa was last located 825 kilometers north-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. Mendoza said there is a low chance that the LPA will intensify into a tropical depression.

Monday forecast

Pagasa’s forecast showed that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, and Bataan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, according to the state weather bureau.

Baguio City: 17 to 20 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  26 to 30 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 31 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 23 to 36 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
