MANILA, Philippines — The Parañaque City government on Sunday announced the imposition of a liquor ban in the city starting Monday.
In an executive order, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the liquor ban to be imposed from August 2 to August 20.
“Selling and serving liquor and other intoxicating and alcoholic beverages shall be prohibited in all establishments,” Olivarez said in the Facebook post.
“As a necessary precaution, consistent with the directives of the national government, there is a need to control the movement of people and to limit personal socialization and interaction of individuals,” the executive order added.
Metro Manila is under general community quarantine “subject to heightened and additional restrictions” until August 5, with indoor dining and al fresco dining being prohibited since Saturday.
This will be followed by the strictest enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) classification which will be in place from August 6 to August 20.
Parañaque City has a total of 23,120 COVID-19 cases which includes 389 active cases, 22,223 recoveries, and 508 deaths, according to the latest available data.
