Taguig City posts 200% vaccination rate at 16,625 jabs in 1 day

MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City has posted a 200 percent vaccination rate, the local government unit announced on Sunday.

The city administered 16,625 vaccinations on Saturday, which is double the National Vaccination Operations Center’s target of 8,000 a day.

Mayor Lino Cayetano also encouraged his constituents to get vaccinated even during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to sustain the city’s vaccination momentum.

“Sa mga hindi pa po nagpapabakuna, nag-commit ang ating national government na marami tayong bagong second dose, at dodoblehin, titriplehin ang supply ng vaccination,” he said in a social media address.

(To those who have not been vaccinated yet, our national government committed many second doses, and the supply of vaccination will be doubled, even tripled.)

“Sana ho magtulungan na tayo, sana magpabakuna na tayo,” he added.

(Let us help each other, let’s get vaccinated.)

National Capital Region (NCR) mayors have requested four million vaccines from the national government, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

NCR mayors aim to administer 250,000 vaccinations a day during ECQ, in a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19 Delta variant.

Metro Manila will be under ECQ from August 6 to 20.
