MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has ordered the temporary closure of all judicial offices in Metro Manila and other areas that the government placed on the strictest lockdown to prevent the spread of the dreaded Delta variant.

In a circular issued on Friday, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said all courts in the National Capital Region (NCR) would be shut down from Aug. 2 to 20 after the government decided to place the metropolis on enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

He said work in court offices in areas outside Metro Manila that were placed on ECQ would likewise be suspended.
