Former MTRCB, PCSO chair Manoling Morato passes away at 87

MANILA, Philippines – Former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Manuel “Manoling” Morato has passed away.

He was 87.

Morato served as chairman of the MTRCB during the time of President Corazon Aquino.

He also served as chairman and board member of the PCSO during the term of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The MTRCB, who described Morato as a “legend of the Philippine entertainment industry,” mourned his passing.

“The whole of the MTRCB family joins in mourning the loss of Manuel ‘Manoling’ Morato, Former Chairperson and legend of the Philippine entertainment industry,” it said in a Facebook post.

“Your contributions to history, the national discourse and the lives of the Filipino people will remain ever large in our hearts. You will be missed, Sir!” the agency added.

Senator Imee Marcos likewise expressed her condolences to Morato’s kin.
