145 new COVID-19 casualties bring death toll to 27,722

MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 deaths in the country stood at 27,722 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 145 new casualties on Friday, July 30
According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, the 27,722 deaths due to the disease represent 1.75 percent of the total 1.580 million confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide.
Earlier, DOH numbers showed that active COVID-19 cases shot back to more than 60,000 as of July 30, with the detection of 8,562 new infections.
The notable increase in active cases, DOH said, was due to the recorded high new infections and a lower-than-usual number of new recoveries, which was only at 2,854.
DOH said that all laboratories were operational last July 1, but two labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
Also, based on the data from the last 14 days, the five laboratories that did not submit data accounted for 0.5 percent of all the samples tested and 0.4 percent of all the positive cases.
