Over 300 flood-hit families evacuated in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––At least 316 families, or 934 individuals, were evacuated to safety following the widespread flooding triggered by incessant rains in this province, authorities said Friday (July 30).

Rolex Estella, head of the provincial disaster risk reduction management office, said most of the displaced families were from this town.

Floods caused by incessant rains due to the southwest monsoon have affected 183 families (552 individuals) from nine villages in this town.
Of this number, 11 families were taken to three evacuation centers.

The other displaced families were from 10 villages in four other towns. These include five villages in Subic, three in Castillejos, one in San Felipe, and one in Cabangan.

Estella also reported damage to the province’s agriculture worth P8.6 million. INQ
