MANILA, Philippines — From the least rigid status, Cebu province has been escalated to the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting August 1 to 15, 2021, Malacañang said Friday.
“Nadagdag po ang Cebu at Cebu City sa mga lugar na nasa modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ simula a uno hanggang a kinse ng Agosto subject sa mga apela ng local government units,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced over state-run People’s Television Network.
Other areas under MECQ from August 1 to 15 are Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City.
When the government first announced quarantine classifications for August, Cebu province was under the less strict modified general community quarantine.

On Thursday, the Department of Health confirmed that there are 32 Delta variant COVID-19 cases in Cebu.
Amid the Delta variant threat, Metro Manila’s status will be escalated to the strictest ECQ from August 6 to 20, 2021.
