The Commission on Audit (COA) has questioned the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for its “doubtful” disbursements amounting to P605.82 million for its COVID-19 pandemic response.
In its 2020 audit report, the COA said the disbursements lacked supporting documents and there were significant differences between the cost of procured goods and the set price ceiling.
The COA said the BFP disbursed a total of P605.82 million for the payment of hazard pay, purchase of supplies, and the rental of hotel for quarantine and isolation of its employees, among others.
The payment of hazard pay of BFP personnel amounted to P491.77 million. —NESTOR CORRALES
