MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang dismissed on Wednesday as false social media posts that parts of the country, including Metro Manila, would be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting Aug. 1.
“Fake news,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a message to reporters who asked him about the supposed lockdown.
The Department of Health (DOH) also made it clear that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases had not yet decided on new quarantine classifications.

“We remind the public not to share unverified sources of information to avoid panic and confusion,” it added.
