Pagasa, weather report, weather update
MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy weather with occasional rain will prevail over most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, from Wednesday night until Thursday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Monsoon rains, or continuous rains, however, are still expected to affect some areas in Luzon, specifically: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro.
The rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, on the other hand, will only experience cloudy weather with occasional rain.
“Mas madalas po yung mga pag-ulan sa umaga at sa hapon o early evening ngayong habagat,” said Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas.
(It will rain more often in the morning and in the afternoon or early evening during the habagat.)
Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, may see generally fair weather within the next 24 hours, but brief thunderstorms should still be expected around late afternoon and in the evening.
Below are the state weather service’s forecast temperature range in key cities/areas:
- Metro Manila: 26 to 29 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 17 to 21 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay: 22 to 28 degrees Celsius
- Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 36 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
Pagasa’s Rojas added no storms are expected to build or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next two to three days.
However, gale warning remains raised over the northern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon, as well as the western seaboard of Visayas.
“Sa mga lugar po na ito ay bawal munang pumalaot ang ating mga kababayang mangingisda at ‘yung may mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat para maiwasan ang sakuna sa gitna ng karagatan,” Rojas said.
(In these areas, our fellow fishermen and those with small marine vessels are not allowed to set sail to avoid disaster in the middle of the ocean.)
