BAGUIO CITY––Mayor Benjamin Magalong ordered the suspension of work at the City Hall starting noon Wednesday, July 28, due to a heavy downpour and strong winds caused by the southwest monsoon.

Magalong said the inclement weather was posing a danger to residents of Baguio and other places in northern Luzon.

He said the work suspension would allow government workers, except for those rendering services during a calamity, to go home early for their safety.

Authorities have reminded the public, especially motorists, to be extra cautious when passing through landslide-prone areas and slippery roads.

The latest landslide recorded in the city was at Leonard Wood Road.

In nearby La Trinidad town, Benguet province, work at the municipal hall was also suspended starting at 1 p.m. due to intense rains.
