STARTING today, Lapu-Lapu City jeepneys with route number MI-03B will no longer be allowed to enter the city to decongest the area.
MI-03B jeepneys ply the Cordova-MEPZ I route. With the new rerouting scheme to be implemented by the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) Board, these jeepneys will no longer pass their usual Babag-Kinalumsan-Looc route going to MEPZ I.
Instead, they have to turn right to A. Tumulak Street passing city hospital, turn right to S. Osmeña Street, turn left to Hoops Dome access road, turn right to Humay-Humay Road, turn left to Patalinghug Avenue leading to the first bridge then turn right to ML Quezon Highway going to MEPZ I.
Frank Brazil, head of CTMS, said the city proper is now very congested with PUJs and tricycles that resulted in very slow traffic flow.
Bazil said this is just experimental and will last for one month. They will then assess the results and see whether it will be implemented permanently./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
