MANILA, Philippines — Police pounced on a colleague in an entrapment operation on Monday for allegedly extorting P6,000 from an aspiring cop to supposedly ensure she gets to take oath for Philippine National Police recruits at the end of the month.
Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the PNP, identified the suspect as Master Sgt. Edmund delos Reyes of the PNP Crime Laboratory Group.
Delos Reyes was arrested on Monday evening at a fast-food restaurant just across the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.
According to Eleazar, the suspect demanded P6,000 from the applicant as “assurance to be included in the final list of new batch of PNP recruits who will take oath on July 30.”
