Economic adviser leads meet to search for ways to reduce power cost in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY––Negros Occidental provincial economic consultant Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez led a pre-power summit Monday to explore ways to bring down the cost of power in the province.
“The goal is to reduce power cost to benefit consumers, and allow stable and competitive rates and power supply to entice the technology industry to come here and invest,” he said.
“The meeting was held to assess the power supply in Negros, and if its use is being maximized,” he added.
Benitez pointed out that Negros Occidental is rich in renewable energy with available geothermal, solar, and biomass plants.
“We are pushing for renewable energy. In fact, Negros Island would claim it has the number of megawatts of renewable energy,” he said.
