2 dead in Batangas road mishaps

LUCENA CITY––A bicycle rider and a motorcycle passenger died after their vehicles figured in separate road mishaps in Batangas City and Santa Teresita town in Batangas province on Monday and Tuesday.

The Batangas police reported that a tricycle driven by Cornelio Marasigan with passenger Pamela Diane Marasigan was traveling at 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday when its side wheel hit the concrete barrier of a bridge in Barangay Dalig.

Pamela was thrown off the vehicle, landed on the pavement, and suffered injuries. She died on the way to the hospital.

Cornelio also suffered injuries and is receiving treatment. The report did not state the personal relationship between the victims.

In Santa Teresita town, a bicycle rider of minor age, also died after his bike hit the right side of a running bus in Barangay Poblacion 1 at 5:20 p.m. Monday.

The victim fell from his bike and was subsequently ran over by the rear tire of the bus.

He was taken to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The bus driver was under police custody.
