MANILA, Philippines — Rainy weather is still expected over most parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, while the Visayas and Mindanao will experience hot and humid weather on Monday, the state weather service said Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the southwest monsoon is still being enhanced by Typhoon Fabian (international name: In-fa), and Tropical Storm Nepartak which are outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility
“Bagamat nasa labas na ng ating area of responsibility ng mga nagdaang araw, ay somehow nagpapaibayo pa din ng habagat ang bagyo na may international name na In-fa,” weather specialist Chris Perez said.
“Ang bagyong ito, at isa pang sama ng panahon na napakalayo pa sa area of responsiblity ay patuloy na nagpapaibayo ng habagat,” he added.
(While Typhoon In-fa is outside of our area of responsibility these past few days, it still somehow intensifies the southwest monsoon. This typhoon, along with a weather disturbance very far in the area of responsibility, still intensifies the southwest monsoon.)
In-fa was last detected 1,025 km north of extreme northern Luzon, with sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Tropical Storm Nepartak, on the other hand, was located 2,840 km east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of 90 kph.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro will still have monsoon rains, while the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The Visayas and Mindanao are expected to have hot and humid weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Pagasa raised a gale warning on the northern and western seaboards of Luzon where moderate to strong waves from 1.2 to 4.0 meters will be experienced. The rest of the country will have light to moderate waves.
