Landslide blocks road in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY—The Manila North Road in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is currently impassable due to a landslide as southwest monsoon rains continue to pour over Northern Luzon, authorities said on Sunday.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Ilocos region said that the road in Pancian village is impassable due to a major landslide which was triggered by torrential rains.

Clearing operations are ongoing, the DPWH said.

In Bacarra town, local authorities started to raise alarm on Saturday as the continuous downpour has elevated the level of the Bislak River.

The town’s disaster and risk reduction team had advised local residents not to engage in activities in the river, and move their livestock to higher ground.
