Alert for evacuation up in Olongapo City as water in river rises

OLONGAPO CITY — Local disaster response team alerted families living around the river traversing Mabayuan and Kalaklan in this city as the water level continued to rise on Sunday morning.

As of 8:40 a.m. the water beneath Mabayuan bridge reached 3.29 meters, Sta. Rita bridge reached 3.10 meters, and Memorial bridge reached 3.20 meters.

The situation prompted authorities to raise alert level 3, which encourages residents to evacuate to higher grounds.

Much of Luzon have been experiencing days of heavy rain since the beginning of the week due to typhoon Fabian and the southwest monsoon.
