Be An INQUIRER, the official citizen journalism online community of INQUIRER.net, was hacked for two consecutive days this week. The page admins and editors’ roles have been removed by the hacker who gained access to the page on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2021. On the same day, the Inquirer team was able to retrieve the account with the help of the Facebook Media Support team.
But the following day, two hackers namely Lum Kallaba and Junuz Salihi, took over the page again and made changes to the page’s name, username, and even set country restrictions. The Inquirer team also identified Kallaba as the same hacker who gained access to the page on Wednesday. Salihi also posted on the page to notify the followers that they have updated the page’s name from “Be An INQUIRER” to “Be An INQUIRER Portali Ditor.” At around 4:18 p.m., the Inquirer team has retrieved access to the page with the help also of the Facebook team.
The Inquirer team has filed a complaint against the hackers and is working with the Facebook team to restore the deleted posts.
