LEGAZPI CITY – Police arrested on Friday a woman selling COVID-19 medications in an entrapment operation in Naga City, police report said Saturday.

Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, identified the suspect as Cecilia Catacutan, resident of Barangay Pequeña.

Catacutan was a subject of a surveillance operation for selling anti-COVID-19 drugs without a doctor’s prescription.

The report said the suspect was caught while selling Ivermectin and Lianhua medicines worth P16,000 to an undercover agent inside the administrative office of the Centro Square Building in Barangay San Francisco at around 12:05 p.m.

The suspect, who is an unlicensed pharmaceutical sales representative, did not resist arrest and yielded 20 boxes containing Lianhua medicines and 200 capsules of Ivermectin.

Police investigators said the suspect was reportedly selling the anti-COVID medicines either by online or in-person transaction.

The confiscated medicines were brought to the Department of Health’s Food and Drug Authority (FDA) in Naga City for evaluation of authenticity and verification whether it has FDA Compassionate Special Permit.
