MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will meet with the government’s pandemic task force officials on Saturday evening to discuss measures to stem the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the President will meet officials of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
This comes two days after the health department confirmed local transmission of the Delta variant in the country.
At present, the Philippines has detected a total of 47 cases of the variant, 23 of which are local cases.
Seven out of the 23 local Delta variant cases were found in Metro Manila.
To complete the 23 local Delta variant cases, Central Luzon and Northern Mindanao recorded six each, while Calabarzon and Western Visayas logged two each.
