MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday 6,845 fresh cases of COVID-19, the highest recorded so far in July.
This brought the country’s active tally of COVID-19 cases to 55,069 out of all the 1,537,097 confirmed coronavirus cases. Of the active count, 94.7 percent are either mild or asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, the DOH also logged 2,330 recoveries, raising the number of patients who have recovered to 1,455,137.
The DOH did not log any death in Friday’s case bulletin due to technical issues in the case reporting system. The same issue was encountered in Thursday’s reporting of case updates.
“Due to technical issues encountered in COVIDKaya and the manual solution implemented as a contingency measure, cases reported today may not have up-to-date data entries in certain fields (e.g. health status, residence, quarantine status),” the DOH said.
“Note that the 0 deaths reported today is due to the current issues with COVIDKaya. This is currently being investigated with the Department of Information and Communications Technology and a resolution is expected in the next few days,” it added.

On COVID-19 testing, the DOH said 12.3 percent of 43,668 individuals who were tested were found positive for the virus on Wednesday.
Five testing laboratories were not able to submit their data on time, according to DOH. Based on data in the last 14 days, the non-reporting labs contribute 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.4 percent of positive individuals on average.
Eleven duplicates, including eight recoveries, were removed from the total case count, while 15 cases that were previously counted as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
