ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – The city government here recorded 57 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Thursday, July 22.
The new cases were reported in 20 out of the 33 villages here while the fatalities were residents of Barangays Pulung Maragul, Sto. Domingo and Tabun.
This city’s active cases soared to 370 from only 322 a week ago.
On June 7, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr issued more lenient guidelines on the prevention of COVID-19.
Curfew hours were shortened to only four hours (midnight to 4 a.m.) while social events at 50 percent venue capacity and “strictly managed” buffets were allowed.
Officials also lifted the liquor ban and allowed and bars and nightclubs to operate at 30 percent capacity.
A total of 7,151 COVID-19 cases were recorded here since the pandemic began last year.
Of the tiotal number of cases, 6,467 have so far recovered, including the 15 new recoveries on Thursday. The death toll stood at 314.
Barangay Sto. Domingo has the most active cases at 34, followed closely by Balibago and Margot villages with 32 active cases each, and Barangay Pampang with 29 active cases.
