MANILA, Philippines — A total of 95 volcanic earthquakes were recorded from Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Friday.

Of the 95 earthquakes, Phivolcs said 68 of these lasted for one to 17 minutes.

Taal Volcano continues to emit high levels of volcanic sulfur dioxide (SO2) with 5,286 tons recorded, the Phivolcs added.

Meanwhile, Alert Level 3 remains in effect.

Under Alert Level 3, Phivolcs explained there is magmatic intrusion at the main crater that may further drive succeeding eruptions.

The public is reminded that entry is strictly prohibited in Taal Volcano Island, Taal’s permanent danger zone, and high-risk barangays in Agoncillo and Laurel in Batangas.
