BACOLOD CITY – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has not joined calls coming from several other governors for President Rodrigo Duterte to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.
“If Duterte is the vice president and the position of president becomes vacant, can he assume the post?” Lacson said.
“I think that should be resolved first before we can even endorse him to be the vice president,” he added.
Lacson, who is a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, said the party has not named its presidential and vice presidential bets for 2022 yet.
At least 24 provincial governors have supported a resolution issued by the ruling Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) urging Duterte to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.
