MANILA, Philippines — The Delta variant case of COVID-19 whose reported address was in Bicol was not a local case in the region, the Bicol Center for Health Development (CHD) clarified on Thursday.

According to Bicol CHD, the said case is a Bicolano who is currently working in Metro Manila.

“The patient is a 27-year-old female from Sorsogon who has neither travelled to Bicol for the last three years nor have been visited by someone from Bicol before getting sick. Hence the patient is not a local case of the region,” the regional CHD said.

According to the office, the woman’s necessary specimen was taken at the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City on June 25.

The case was among the 12 additional cases of the Delta variant that were reported by the Department of Health earlier in the day.

There are now 47 cases of the Delta variant, including 23 local cases. Eight of the Delta cases remain active.

“DOH Bicol reiterates that amid the threat of the Delta variant, the minimum public health standards remain as the best preventive measures against all mutations of the virus. Properly wear face mask and face shield, sanitize your hands, maintain social distancing, and avoid crowded and enclosed spaces,” the local DOH office added.
