DepEd launches app to track vaccination status of teachers, personnel
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday launched the DepEd mobile app for a safer and more convenient way of consolidating vaccination status of teachers and non-teaching personnel.
In a statement, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the app, which could now be downloaded in App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), will no longer require manual data collection since the prices will be done remotely.
“We decided to create this platform to give our personnel and teachers a hassle-free and contactless way of handing out their vaccination status,” Briones said.
“We also want to maximize the use of technology in consolidating information of the vaccinees,” she added.
Teachers and DepEd personnel could now log in and provide updated information on their vaccination status.
Latest available data from the agency said of the 788,839 teachers and personnel, only 38 percent or 299,021 either received first or second dose, while 62 percent or 489,818 remain unvaccinated.
Undersecretary for Administration Alain Pascua said that the app can generate and send consolidated reports per region and division.
“Overall, this technology simplifies and lessens administrative tasks and minimizes inaccuracy and errors in data collection,” Pascua said.
The DepEd official noted that all of the collected information will guide the DepEd “in making appropriate decisions to respond to the ongoing pandemic.”
“Only timely and accurate information can help provide appropriate solutions to DepEd’s concerns,” he added.
