8 senators to physically attend Duterte’s final SONA

Eight senators, led by Senate President Vicente Sotto III, will be physically attending President Rodrigo Duterte’s final SONA on July 26.

MANILA, Philippines — Eight senators, led by Senate President Vicente Sotto III, will be physically attending President Rodrigo Duterte’s final State of the Nation Address (SONA) next Monday, July 26.

Aside from Sotto, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri will also physically witness Duterte deliver his SONA, according to a list provided by the Senate president to reporters Thursday.

Senators Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Sherwin Gatchalian, Christopher “Bong” Go, Imee Marcos, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Francis Tolentino will also join the Senate leadership at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, where the two chambers of Congress will convene in a joint session for Duterte’s SONA.

“Only eight manifested their intention to attend the SONA physically. The rest will be virtual,” Sotto told reporters in an online interview.

Those physically attending the SONA are required to be fully vaccinated. Attendees should also present a negative result of an RT-PCR test taken not more than 48 hours prior to entering the House plenary building.
