MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines fully vaccinated at least 5 million individuals against the dreaded COVID-19 as of July 20, Malacañang reported Wednesday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque also disclosed in an online press briefing that the country has already administered 15.6 million doses of different COVID-19 vaccines since the government launched its anti-coronavirus inoculation campaign in March.
Additionally, Roque said 10,585,261 individuals have now received their first dose while 5,031,301 of them have already received their second dose or are fully vaccinated.
This Wednesday, more than 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech are expected to arrive in the country.
Roque said some 2.5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine made by China’s Sinovac will also be delivered this week.
Both batches were procured by the government.
“Bukas naman, July 22, inaasahan ang pagdating ng 1.5 milyon doses ng Sinovac at sa Biyernes, karagdagang isang milyong Sinovac ang expected na darating,” the presidential spokesperson said.
(Tomorrow, July 22, we expect the delivery of 1.5 million doses of Sinovac and on Friday, another 1 million doses of Sinovac are expected to arrive.)
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the government is aiming to fully vaccinate seven million people by the end of July.
