MANILA, Philippines — Work in the Senate was suspended early on Wednesday due to bad weather and flooding in some parts of the metropolis.
“SP (Senate President Vicente “Tito) Sotto agreed to allow early work dismissal of Senate employees for today,” Senate Secretary Myra Villarica said in a text message to reporters.
Floodwater submerged several roads in Metro Manila as two weather distrubances – Typhoon Fabian and severe Tropical Storm Cempaka – enhanced the prevailing southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, causing rains affecting many parts of Luzon including the capital region.
Bad weather also prompted other offices like the Supreme Court to similarly suspend work in all courts in Metro Manila, including the Court of Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals, and the Sandiganbayan.
