LUCENA CITY—A construction worker died Tuesday after a fellow laborer playing Russian roulette pointed the gun at him in Lemery town in Batangas province.
A Lemery police report said John Lenard was drinking with fellow workers, Arnold Gamboa, an alias “Aaron,” and John Edward Constantino in Barangay Calihan 2 around 6:30 p.m.
Gamboa told police investigators that Constantino pulled out a .38 caliber revolver from under a pillow and played with it.
Afterward, Constantino took a bullet from a bag and placed it inside the gun’s cylinder, and rotated it.
The suspect then pointed the gun at Lenard, squeezed the trigger, and hit the victim on his head, killing him instantly, the report said quoting Gamboa. The suspect escaped after the shooting.
The report did not specify why Constantino turned the gun at Lenard.
Four hours later, policemen arrested Constantino in Sta. Teresita town and recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
Constantino was detained and is facing criminal charges.
Russian roulette is a dangerous game that requires a player to load a single bullet in the chamber of a revolver, which he aims at his head or at anybody after the player spins the gun cylinder.
