OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city climbed to 187 on Tuesday (July 20) after the local task force logged 22 additional infections.

One of the new patients is a 3-year-old boy from Barangay Barretto. The oldest is an 84-year-old man from Barangay (village) Mabayuan.

On the previous day, the number of the city’s active cases was only 180.

The new infections further raised the total COVID-19 cases listed in the city to 2,803 since last year.

But 15 more virus-infected patients have recovered, pushing to 2,459 the number of COVID-19 recoveries. This reflects an 87.7-percent recovery rate, which was almost unchanged in the last two weeks.

Local virus data also showed that no COVID-19 deaths were recorded on Tuesday, keeping the city’s death toll at 157.

At least 59 suspected COVID-19 cases are still being monitored by health authorities.
