MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Jose Abad Santos town in Davao Occidental on Wednesday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake which rocked the area at 4:26 AM was tectonic in origin with a depth of 94 kilometers.
Intensity 2 was felt in General Santos City and Kiamba town in Sarangani.
Phivolcs said the earthquake is unlikely to cause damage, but aftershocks are expected.
