Landslide displaces 7 families in Kalinga
TUGUEGARAO CITY—A landslide that hit a residential area in Balbalan town, Kalinga province buried a house Monday (July 19) evening, prompting villagers and at least six other families near the area to evacuate to safer places, authorities said.
Pearl Tumbali, Balbalan disaster risk-reduction management officer, said heavy and incessant rains in the past days loosened the soil in Barangay Maling.
No one was hurt in the incident, but villagers were cautioned against immediately returning to their homes.
Chariz Dayag, Kalinga provincial disaster risk reduction and management council staff, said the destroyed house was made of light materials.
