OLONGAPO CITY—The city government recently began the vaccination against COVID-19 of persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are now on the priority list.
At least 20 PWDs in the city had received the first dose of the Coronovac vaccine produced by the Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac.
They were included in the vaccine rollout last Friday (July 16) at the SMX Convention of SM Olongapo Central.
The city health officials said only 20-30 vaccine slots were allotted for the first batch of PWDs since the local government was still receiving a limited supply from the national government.
At least 600 residents also received Friday their second dose of Sinovac vaccines as the city continued to inch closer to its target population.
The city has inoculated 21,357 residents, but only about 11,000 of them had received their second dose.
The city needs to vaccinate 70 percent of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity. INQ
