TUGUEGARAO CITY—A serpent eagle (Spilornis holospilus) was released back into the forests after a farmer rescued it in Baggao town, Cagayan province Friday.

Frederic Tomas, Baggao municipal environment and natural resources officer, said on Sunday (July 18) that farmer Jacinto Dela Cruz found the eagle in Barangay Carupian on July 16, while a dog was about to attack it.

Dela Cruz then turned over the bird to the local government unit, which immediately freed it.
