Tropical Storm Fabian gains strength, to exit PAR Monday
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Fabian (international name: In-fa) and a tropical depression west of Batanes province continued to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring rain on Monday, the weather service said.
The monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” is expected to dump heavy rain in Palawan province, and bring cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Fabian slightly gained strength on Sunday afternoon, but is likely to remain far from the Philippine landmass.
As of 4 p.m. on Sunday, its center was estimated at 1,095 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon. It blew winds of up to 75 km per hour near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.
