COVID-19 kills 162 more in PH, says DOH

MANILA, Philippines — Another 162 individuals made ill by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 have died, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday. This raised the country’s COVID-19 casualty count to 26,476.

In its latest bulletin, DOH also said that the Philippines has to date recorded a total of 1,496,328 coronavirus infections and added that the fatality rate, or the percentage of people who died from the disease, was 1.77 percent.

The health department reported an average of 108 deaths in the last seven days from July 10 to 16, and 106 average deaths logged from July 3 to 9.

Active COVID-19 cases stood at 48,480 as of July 16, of which 2.6 percent are severe and 1.6 percent are critical or are at higher risk for death, according to DOH.

DOH’s data further showed that 91.8 percent of the active cases are mild, 1.85 percent are moderate, and 2.1 percent are asymptomatic.
