MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—Fifteen people were arrested on Monday (July 12) in three separate anti-illegal gambling operations in Tarlac province, the provincial police disclosed on Wednesday.
Col. Renante Cabico, Tarlac police director, said the operations were conducted in Camiling, Concepcion, and Pura towns, where the arrested persons were engaged in a card game, cockfighting, and mahjong.
Around 5 p.m. on July 12, Camiling policemen arrested two men and a woman for playing “tong-its,” a card game, in Barangay Cacamilingan and confiscated a deck of cards and more than P200 bet money from the three persons.
The police identified them as Janette Ronquillo, 37; Erwin Gomez, 37; and Antonio Martinez, 55.
At 6:20 p.m. on the same day, police arrested Jayson Pamintuan, 40, Jaybie Dizon, 27, and Third Cortez, 20, who were allegedly engaged in illegal cockfighting in Barangay Sta. Maria.
The lawmen confiscated three fighting roosters, two pieces of gaff, and P1,650 bet money from the trio.
About four hours later, authorities raided a house in Barangay Naya in Pura and arrested six men and two women allegedly playing mahjong, and seized a set of mahjong tiles and P551 bet money.
The arrested persons were identified as Rene Rasca, 44; Damaso Millado, 45; Antonio Gallema, 57; Gilbert Nool, 32; Rolando Callao, 61; Angel de Leon, 70; Fe De Leon, 61; Nida Miles, 59; and Carol Pascua, 67.
Cabico said the arrested suspects would face charges for illegal gambling.
